Best free starting point: TCGplayer
TCGplayer says its mobile app is free to download and use. It scans products available on its marketplace, shows Market Price, Listed Median and Most Recent Sale, and lets users keep scans in lists. That makes it a practical first install for a US collector or seller who is sorting a small box and deciding which cards deserve more research.
The seller integration is narrower than the name “scanner app” may suggest. TCGplayer says inventory import from app lists is for Level 4 sellers. If your actual destination is eBay, you still need to create the listing, images, title, condition details, price and storage location in another process.

Best for collection tracking: Collectr
Collectr is aimed at the owner who wants each recognized card added to a portfolio. Its current scanner page says the app matches the set, collector number and variant, then adds quantity and condition to the collection. That is a better fit than seller software when your central question is “What do I own and how is the collection changing?”
Keep the valuation in context. An app portfolio may show a reference-market value, while a real sale produces less after condition discounts, platform fees, postage, packing supplies and labor. Use our calculator before deciding that a low-value card is worth listing individually.

Best for collection plus marketplace: CollX
CollX describes a computer-vision match followed by possible variants that the user can choose. It also combines collection tracking with its own marketplace. That makes it useful when discovery and activity inside a collector community are part of the goal.
Its free and paid limits matter. The current Pro page advertises expanded collection, CSV export, bulk pricing and other seller features. Check the live plan rather than choosing it from an old comparison article. The right test is not the number of features; it is whether you can export and use your data in the channel where you actually sell.

Best fit when the destination is eBay: CardUploader
CardUploader begins after you have usable card images. Its published workflow identifies uploaded cards, prepares listing information and supports exports for eBay, TCGplayer, Shopify, Whatnot and CSV. We use the paid product between Ricoh image capture and our own human review.

Seller software is useful when you need consistent data for a batch and the next action is publishing inventory. How to avoid a wrong match
- Use a plain, evenly lit background. Reduce glare and keep the full card visible.
- Confirm the set symbol and collector number. Artwork alone may exist in several printings.
- Confirm language and variant. Normal, holo and reverse-holo versions can have different demand and prices.
- Check condition yourself. Identification software cannot replace a seller’s honest condition assessment.
- Review the destination listing. Title, photo order, price, shipping and storage location must still be correct.
